THE POSITION
As Production Engineer Offshore Energy, you will be responsible for analysing and setting up production calculations and working methods for new projects. These projects are technologically complex and related to cable laying, cable burial, and pipeline installation. You will work on a wide variety of projects that challenge your analytical skills and creativity, collaborating closely with various disciplines within the company. The projects range from installations in relatively easy geotechnical conditions to highly complex geological sites that require customised burial solutions. These projects typically use in-house equipment, though other large fleet assets may be involved when necessary. The Offshore Energy division is committed to innovation, contributing to Van Oord’s competitive advantage.
YOUR IMPACT
Support the commercial department and project teams during tendering and execution phases by interpreting large datasets
Interpret and analyse available documents and equipment
Ensure an efficient, robust, and competitive production process in terms of equipment combinations and logistics
Use, implement, and improve in-house production estimating software
Prepare and present deliverables to potential (internal) clients
Gain practical experience by visiting Offshore Energy equipment and projects in execution to enhance knowledge and advise on optimizations
During these project visits, you will actively follow up on production and installation processes and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement by updating corporate production databases for future tenders.
ABOUT YOU
The position of Production Engineer Offshore Energy is based in Gorinchem. You will be part of the Offshore Energy Production Team within the Engineering and Estimating Department. The team has an open, dynamic, and informal atmosphere, with collaboration and mutual support as core values.
You are eager to develop into an all-round sparring partner for Tender and Project Managers and Engineers. You have strong analytical skills, a creative and solution-oriented mindset, and the ability to keep the big picture in view while thinking ahead.
You bring the following:
A minimum Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Civil or Mechanical Engineering
At least 3 years of relevant experience
Strong interest in mechanical systems
Ability to work both independently and as part of a (tender) team
Investigative, creative, structured, and flexible working approach
Experience with estimating
Excellent command of the English language
Willingness to work on projects around the world
